The Federal Skilled Trades Program enables people who are qualified in a skilled trade to become permanent residents if they satisfy the required criteria.
Applicants must intend to live outside the province of Quebec, have no less than 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade within the 5 years immediately before applying, have the required English or French language proficiency, meet the occupational requirements for their skilled trade in accordance with the National Occupational Classification (except for producing a certificate of qualification), and have an offer of full-time employment in Canada for at least 1 year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a provincial or territorial authority in Canada.
